11:52 am - My editorial got published!
I found The Day's write-up on the Hygienic's annual exhibition off point. (“The 28th Hygienic exhibition: Line-at-the-door art,” Jan. 28.) Susanna Schwartz did not comprehend the Hygienic's history of “no jury, no judge, no censorship.”

In the article, she juried those pieces that she felt deserved recognition because of their high value and technical skill. She judged by choosing pieces she regarded as art, in her opinion. She thought that certain works didn't belong, such as those having words in them. If it were up to her, certain works that did meet a criteria would be censored in a show of hers.

Having a critique like this does not encourage new talent or creativity for future Hygienic shows. I do not believe Susanna Schwartz feels the spirit of the Hygienic's purpose as a service to the community as an outlet for arts.

Art is a universal experience and the Hygienic is a rare place for these otherwise “undervalued” works to be displayed on the crisp white walls of a gallery, and to be viewed by the public.

So I lost my cell phone.  My new phone has the same number so people can still reach me.  I need people's numbers though...I feel lost an empty phonebook that used to be full.  Either email me at my junk email address antibalistkmisel@yahoo.com or leave it here if you want it posted.  Or call me if you have the number.  Thanks!

This is kinda corny, but I joined it anyways:

http://presidentschallenge.org/index.aspx

I used to work out for over an hour a day, which I clearly can not do for many reasons at the moment. This has an "award" for starters who stay active for 30 minutes a day. For myself thats a really good goal to keep strong yet not overdoing anything and aggravating a migraine. Plus, eventually it can earn things like stickers and little medals. And its white house approved. And if anything can get me pumping weights, its the thought of a bronze metal approved by george w. bush. haha. no, I just like the thought of being part of something nationwide.

Theres a group setting, apparently if you wanna go in it with friends. Cause I signed up for the simple first group, things like walking count. So if anyone wants to join me, let me know, and we can even stroll the mall (they open it early just for walkers. And its great for window shopping)

But, I need a lil' push right now, in any aspect of life, so choo choo. all abord.
(Im also thinking about getting into something way over my head, but its only in the baby phases.)

as always, love,
amy

p.s.
i dont 'think' anyone is buying that dress, unless they are going to surprise me last minute. what now?

11:54 pm - shameless self promomotion
So I finally hopped the Ebay train. I started with two items, because it took me all friggen day!!!! They apparently have two formats. The "Supercool" format...and the "Sorta looks like ass" format. And the Supercool format, even with help, from phone help on the site...I had to go with the "Sorta looks like ass" format. I think I pulled it off pretty well though.

Im selling a really goreous vintage ballgown that I've had since I was like a freshman in highschool that really just hangs in my room cause its pretty by now.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180048343455&rd=1&rd=1

and a GREAT pair of shoes by Chinese Laundry I bought in New Mexico. The sizing from that company is about two sizes too big, so a 7 is really something like a 9...so they don't fit me no matter how hard I try.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180048388501&rd=1&rd=1

The prices are really low. The Shipping and handling is, like usual, what will get things. But if anyone I KNOW likes either of the things, let me know. I dont know if Im bound to anything to sell the S&H I said I would, but if I know you and you dont need shipping cause you are in the area, Id of course waive it...giving you a hella good deal all the while.

I really can't think of anybody this dress would fit that I know...OH...except siobhon, who would probably look drop dead hot in in. So, if you ever read this in the next (looks at watch) 4 days?, take a peak.

Anyone else, read this shameless post, and also look at my hot shoes too. They REALLY are hot. If you were a guy, I'd say they were so hot they'd get you laid. But they are so hot you will be slapping people all night as to not be laid.

love,
amy

07:49 am - new york new york
New york is gonna be fun.

internships are gonna be sweet. My feet are going to be strong and my body will become impenetreble to the cold. The house is old and cute in a great neigborhood. There really is no kitchen, which is fine cause I dont cook anyways. There are a gazillion restaurants/delis/pizza/chinese food/everything else on the block too. (and cheesecake) (and lots of bars) Its right near madison square garden, and very easy walking distance to Macy's. I walked to Macy's early this morning by myself, and sat in their coffeshop that overlooks the store, eating a lemon poppyseed muffin watching all the christmas shoppers...it was cozy. Oh, and we heard this loud explodion, and though a car blew up..but it really just backfired, and i was disspointed let me tell you.

I brought home a cheesecake for my dads birthday that i dropped 80 times. I hope its still good...

I'm home for another month still. Everyone else come home, be home, be 21 and merry and drink!

love,
amy

02:15 pm - sad story
So last night Im driving home and I get to the little bridge right before my road. Theres something on the other side of the road so I stop my car to take a look. Its a dead canadian goose. I didn't think much about it (other then how it must have met such an unfortunate end) and went home. Later when I went to bed I could hear a "gaggle" of geese making a ruckus up and down the cove. They were going on for over an hour when it hit me:

"Canada geese (and swans) do mate for life. Mated pairs not only raise and protect their young together, but also look out for one another over the course of their lives. One mate will stay by the other's side if injured or dying, even if the rest of the flock is moving on. They are extremely devoted to one another. "

...The widow goes through a mourning period too.

11:27 am - L'Haim!
I got into the New York Arts Program!!

I'm crossing my fingers for the internship with the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Its an extra application process and more competitive then most other internships, but I'd get to work with mesoamerican artifacts. Other then that I'll probably be interning with an art dealer too.

here's to good health!

Dear livejournal users,

No, seriously. There is no excuse for bad poetry. Anyone who told you that you were good lied to you. Maybe because they were being nice, but probably because it made them laugh when you weren't looking.

Stabbing myself? worked great

Injecting the medication? worked great

10 seconds later when I started getting lightheaded, dizzy, and my eyes started blacking out? I thought I was going to have a heart attack or something. I laid down on the floor and felt like I wasnt going to pass out anymore but really couldnt move other then that. Got a free ambulance ride and another 4 hours in the hospital...

And I still have a migraine

p.s. 911 takes forever.

went to synagague for something like 5 hours today. my mom is the rabbi, and the synagogue is an hour away...so once you get in the car with her theres no going back.

Around noon my head starts hurting. I don't pay attention to it, so now its a full blown migraine that my abortives arent working for. All I have left is an injection of DHM to jab into my leg muscle...

This needle is 3 times as long as the one I practiced with....

Wish me luck

lets see:

im home! Im feeling much better. Not cured, but better. I have a handful of new medicines that wont cause the dreaded 'rebound headache' cycle. im on the superstrict headache trigger diet still, and abortive medications that are a lot less strong and dont cause rebound either.

they really do use strange meds. I looked up the daily one im using, methergine...it says its to induce 3rd stage labor. go figure. it works on my head though. Im also using blood pressure meds and antihistimines...hey, it works.

so now to get back in the swing of things
